Marnhull, part glazed roofed garden room

We spent a long time investigating options for extending our traditional coach house to create a room that linked with and gave views across the raised garden. The solution had to have “wow” factor and be sympathetic to the classical shape, materials and character of the existing building. Modern building methods or an extruded aluminium or UPVC framed conservatory just would not have met those objectives.

So we were pleased to discover the oak framed building industry and, after a number of initial enquiries, we were very pleased to discover Oak-A-Framing and Dean with his traditional construction methods, passion for his work and immediately engaging manner. These are characteristics which remained and supported us throughout the whole process of confidence building, outline design, detailed design, planning application and then the exciting period of the build.

We call the building that Dean has provided a ‘garden room’, as it is glazed on two sides and all along the lower portion of one half of the roof. It exceeds all our expectations (as he constantly told us it would!) in terms of the quality, beauty, finish and comfort. Although of very different materials to the existing building it is sympathetic to it and compliments it superbly to the extent that it was described as “magical” by one of the professionals visiting the site. The scale of praise from everyone who visits us is almost embarrassing.

Dean has helped us and worked with us at every stage. Nothing was too much trouble, all concerns or problems raised were readily accepted and resolved, customer care was always paramount as was his attention to detail. The quality standard aspired to was always perfection (“millimetre perfect”, he could frequently be heard to mutter).

The finished building is one of great pleasure, it is more than we ever hoped for. It has also been a great privilege and pleasure to work with Dean as we watched our dream materialise. We will always be grateful – thank you.
